BROADLAND BABIES
Broadland Babies is a great “introduction to dance” for all pre school
children from the age of 3. Come and join in our fun and exciting music
and movement class. It’s a great way to learn through singing, dancing,
playing games and listening to music. It will give your child confidence
and improve their fitness levels, language skills and ability to
listen. It will also improve their co-ordination, balance and posture
and allow them to freely express themselves.
BALLET
The ISTD Cecchetti syllabus offers ballet classes from Primary through to Advanced 2. This syllabus is used for the excellent training at the Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden, London. Understanding of correct technique is emphasised and students are encouraged to develop a range of movement within their own natural capabilities. Children will develop good posture and a sense of line throughout the body. Freedom of expression through dance is encouraged.
TAP
Tap is still a popular style of dance, which encourages musicality, rhythm, and style. The ISTD syllabus has recently been revived with a more American style influenced by tap legends such as Gregory Hines and Savion Glover. The ISTD syllabus offers classes from Primary through to Advanced 2. Students are encouraged to improve their understanding of rhythm and quality of movement, which is creative, challenging and develops their ability to show light and shade. Most of all – it’s fun!
MODERN
The modern ISTD syllabus offers classes from Primary through to Advanced 2. This covers various styles of dance including contemporary, lyrical, blues and current funky jazz. Musical appreciation is also encouraged as the classes are also taken to current chart music. Modern and jazz dance improves flexibility, increases confidence and challenges students physically and mentally, as they are required to learn and retain new sequences at speed. Most of all – it’s fun!
STREET JAZZ
Street jazz is fun. Students develop strength and flexibility and learn new dance routines every few weeks. The class follows a jazz/contemporary class structure with various different techniques to improve strength and flexibility.
ACROBATIC ARTS
Broadland School of Dance offers Acrobatic Arts classes at Aylsham High School. We teach a Canadian syllabus which is well recognised and approved by the dance and gymnastics industries. Acrobatics helps to improve Strength and Flexibility which is beneficial to all dance training.
